Universiti Putra Malaysia is a public university in Malaysia, and is one of Malaysia's five Research Universities. The university’s lush green campus and multicultural environment makes it an ideal place for learning. The university is also located within a short distance of major attractions, shopping and transportation hubs, thus making UPM campus a favourite choice among many international students.
The university is located in Serdang which is 30km south of the capital city Kuala Lumpur. There is a branch campus in Bintulu, Sarawak. The main campus is about 1,108 hectares, while the Bintulu campus is about 715 hectares. We are located mid way between the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the nation’s capital city, Kuala Lumpur, just 30 minutes away from either direction.
The university consists of 16 faculties(Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Human Ecology, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Educational Studies, Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Faculty Science, Faculty of Design and Architechture, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Faculty of Environmental Studies, Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science(Sarawak Campus)), 2 graduate schools(School of Graduate Studies and Graduate School of Management), 9 research institutes(Institute of Bioscience, Institute of Advance Technology, Institute of Gerontology, Institute of Mathematical Research, Institute of Halal Products Research, Institute of Agricultural and Food Policy Studies, Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Product, Institute of Social Sciences(IPSAS), Institute of Tropical Agriculture) and 1 sports academy. UPM offers 56 postgraduate programmes, 56 Bachelors degree programmes (5 with 27 majors), 7 Diploma programmes, and one pre-University programme.
There are approximately 1,569 academic staff members. Approximately 80 are international faculty members. The total student population is approximately 26,700 students; about 33% are post-graduate students. There are 10% of international students from total students’ population
